Enrichment Classes

There are so many fun seasonal activities going on at Trinity’s Weekday School that we sometimes forget to mention all of the fun things that happen year-round! In addition to the quality classroom experience offered, we are very lucky to have many enrichment classes for the children to participate in throughout the school year.

MY GYM: Toddlers and Two’s classes participate in My Gym activities in the Fellowship Hall. My Gym is a children’s fitness center franchise specializing in teaching gross motor skills like rolling, climbing, and balancing. Once a month a My Gym instructor comes out to Trinity with their equipment and works with each class individually. The kids love it and it helps them get their wiggles out!

CREATIVE MOVEMENT: Much like My Gym for the younger children, Creative Movement is taught to the three, four, and five year-olds. Claudette Miller, the mother of three former Weekday School students, uses her knowledge of kinesiology to instruct the children in controlled body movement, balance, and listening skills.

CHAPEL: A new addition to the enrichment for the Three, Four, and TK classes is Chapel. D.C. Horne has very willingly made a commitment to the Weekday school to hold Chapel for these youngsters. During a typical Chapel session, D.C. will give the children a lesson based on a story from the Bible that exemplifies a particular Christian value and will say a prayer with the children. D.C. also does a special service on the Christmas Story for children in the Sanctuary at Christmas. The Weekday School feels so blessed to have such strong support from D.C.!

PLAY SPANISH: Offered only to the oldest children, the Fours and TK classes, Play Spanish teaches children basic words, phrases, and songs in Spanish. The Spanish instructors visit the children twice a month and spend 30 minutes with each class in their classroom.

POPPYSEED THEATRE: The The TK class has the unique opportunity for enrichment through music and drama with Poppyseed Theatre. Poppyseed Theatre is taught by a well-known and respected early childhood professional, Karen Jones, who combines music and role-playing to help children learn self-expression while letting their imaginations run wild.

HEARTSTRINGS MUSIC: Donna Wallace has been teaching music to the Toddlers through Fours for the past several years. She sees the children once a month and meets with the classes individually. She exposes the children to instruments, rhythm, and sound patterns which aid in development.

MORRISON LIBRARIANS: For the past few years librarians from the Morrison library have been providing story time to our two year-olds through TK. They bring the stories to life with puppets and songs and allow for interaction from the children. This is a wonderful opportunity to engage a child’s imagination while helping with verbal development!

As you can see, there are many opportunities beyond the classroom for the children at Trinity’s Weekday School to grow and learn physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. This level of enrichment is not common in other weekday school programs and really helps Trinity provide a unique, quality experience for children. The staff and Parent Support Team of Trinity’s Weekday School really help the school shine by creating such wonderful opportunities for our children!
